Prince Alwaleed Bin-Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding

The Future of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding

The world is at a critical turning point in the history of Muslim-Christian relations, and the Center will continue to serve a wider and more varied audience, in particular by a significant expansion of its role as a think-tank. The demands on the Center and the need to develop new projects and programs continue to increase exponentially. To meet these increased demands, the Center intends to expand its expertise base and operations, as well as strengthen the website as a source of critical information about Islam and the Muslim world. The Center, with its core of prominent and internationally recognized experts and its credibility in the Muslim world as well as the West, is uniquely positioned to address the challenges of a post 9/11 world.

During the next five to ten years, the Alwaleed Center plans to use what it has created in new and expanded ways including advising and working with other universities in creating new centers; expanding media contacts and programs: interviews, talk shows, resources for reporters, consultations on the development of films and educational programs, conferences and workshops for and on the media and Islam; creating strategic events that foster exchanges between critical players, from rulers and Prime Ministers to policymakers and the media, in Europe and the Muslim world to address: U.S. policy towards the Muslim world, the growth of anti-Americanism, the root causes of global terrorism, the relationship of Islam and Arab culture to conflict and conflict resolution, Muslim citizenship and civil liberties in Europe and America; Exchange programs which will support on-site-study, research and participation in programs by academics, religious leaders and senior graduate students from the Muslim world.
